Premeno.
Premeno is a small village in the Alto Verbano immersed in the green of the meadows and conifers that surround it. It is located at about 800-900 meters above sea level, between Verbania and Ghiffa. It also includes the hamlets of Pian di Sole, Pollino and Esio.
It has a very ancient origin, from the Bronze Age, and there are numerous finds of Roman and medieval tombs.
Premeno is famous and renowned because of the luxuriance of the surrounding nature. Moreover, its particular position, in a basin closed among the hills, protects it from cold winds and guarantees a mild climate in every season.
For this reason, during the 20th century, many noble villas were built, which contributed to embellish the landscape. The most beautiful villa in the area, Villa Bernocchi, is now owned by the municipality and is often used as a venue for the most important events, such as exhibitions and concerts.
There are many tourist facilities, bars, restaurants and shops. It is well served by public transport.
The hamlet of Pian di Sole, at an altitude of approx. 1,000 meters above sea level, is an ideal starting point for excursions and sporting activities: the resort has a beautiful golf course, the Golf Piandisole.
It is also interesting to visit the small and characteristic hamlet of Esio, known for its local craftsmanship.
